ABSTRACT
The community is the subject of extensive media attention and has won numerous environmental and development awards, including the prestigious National Phoenix Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Atlanta Business Chronicle Deal of the Year award. City living could fulfill the American dream, and Atlantic Station was poised to take advantage of the change in attitudes. Jacoby formed Atlantic Station LLC with AIG Global Real Estate, the entity tasked to clean up and develop the site, and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) monitored the remediation process called Project XL. Downtown Atlanta no longer features major retail, making Atlantic Station the place to go for intown shopping. What makes community living great at Atlantic Station is the diversity of its population and residential options. Atlantic Station has evolved into a magnet for sports, shopping, and entertainment. Atlantic Station is best described locally as a small town in a big city.
