ABSTRACT

The chapters in this book not only illuminate reasons for bad conduct, but also point to better ways for people to carry on their relations with each other in many spheres of their lives. This concluding chapter, based on reflections by the chapter contributors, offers recommendations to improve conduct in conflicts and collaborations in diverse settings. It discusses the recommendations within three broad phases of relationships: preparing to conduct collaboration and conflict well; stopping destructive escalations of conflicts or collaborations; and transforming destructive conflicts and collaborations so they are done better and more sustainably. For each stage, the chapter presents some empirically grounded ideas about how to improve collaborations and conflicts for relations at different scales and by different sorts of actors.
