ABSTRACT
This chapter examines U.S. Russian policy under the Trump administration. President Trump’s observed and suspected close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the president’s inconsistency have largely sidelined U.S. executive leadership toward Russian foreign policy. The chapter begins with a discussion of policies under the Obama administration and examines the policies and challenges Trump encounters as Russia contests the post-Cold War order.
