ABSTRACT

Ocean Park Hong Kong opened in 1977 on land provided by the Hong Kong Government, using charitable funding received from the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The park’s mission is to entertain guests while also educating them about nature and conservation. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China operates two primary tourism bodies as of April 2019. The first is the Tourism Commission and the second is the Hong Kong Tourist Board. The Hong Kong Government has long been known for maintaining a policy of free enterprise and free trade, leading it to limit its role in economic affairs. In 2018, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong technology sector was ranked second largest in the world on the Global Innovation Index. The only theme park in Hong Kong that can truly be called primary competition for Ocean Park Hong Kong is Hong Kong Disneyland.
