ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the extent to which certain contemporary social movements – in particular, worker-recuperated companies (WRCs) and efforts in local self-administration – advance the legacy of the council movements. While acknowledging that the present political context and circumstances are very different to those of a century ago, this chapter argues that these contemporary social movements carry forward and revitalise the legacy of council democracy.
