ABSTRACT
Ugandan families bring unique challenges when presenting for counseling, including polygamy, primitive rural village or urban cultural life, a variety of religious beliefs, and multicultural considerations involving 17 ethnic tribes and over 45 languages. This chapter explores the unusual dynamics surrounding sex, money, and power within both marital and family structures as well as the skills counselors must embrace. Additionally, a sensitive recognition of the role of counselor as advocate will be explored.
