ABSTRACT

The chapter sets out strategies and processes for embedding sustainability into the curriculum of a business school with ideas about the various approaches they can take and how it can be all combined together. The new framework on how to embed sustainability into a business school curriculum suggests an optional module in business philosophy. The aim of such a module could not only be the analysis of existing frameworks and concepts, but also to design new concepts and tools while 'structuring what is to be preserved'. When considering the strategies for both structural and process change at school and curriculum level, the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Management Education transformational model, together with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), provides a balanced approach for curriculum reorientation towards sustainability and responsible management, refocusing of research activities, and transparent dialogue with key stakeholders, supporting the development of responsible management education globally.
