ABSTRACT

In 2008, Watershed launched Pervasive Media Studio – an arts and technology research space designed to challenge the output-driven thinking of project funding by co-locating artists, creative companies, technologists and academics in gifted space. Today, the Studio has an international reputation for collaborations crossing cultural, commercial and academic sectors. Whilst technology platforms, reach, profile, community and methods have evolved and changed, an applied, value-driven, inclusive approach has remained at the heart of Studio culture.

This chapter shares some of the ideas that informed its thinking and ethos of collaboration, playfulness, generosity and interruptibility.
