ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the burgeoning trend of centralization of coaching provision, beginning with the history of the practice, along with a look at current and future trends in this regard. It outlines various management tasks that would need to be considered for centralization. An emerging trend in the executive coaching industry has been the centralization of executive coaching, which has taken on two forms: a centralized organizational function to oversee and manage coaching throughout the enterprise, and a centralization of external partners offering coaching to the enterprise. Centralizing coaching under fewer partners vastly improves overall visibility for the coaching, greatly reduces the administrative workload on the organization, and yields potentially more favorable pricing and consistent experiences for recipients. Centralization of coaching provision eases the burden on organizations for all the reasons aforementioned, allowing those full-time employees to focus more often on higher-level strategic activities and outsourcing the day-to-day tasks to others.
