ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors assumes that ethical behavior demonstrates their moral values in action and is the basis of our daily lives and how they relate to others. Dilemmas are one aspect of our ethical thinking, where practitioners face difficult choices between two or more alternatives. Practitioners face ethical decisions constantly as coaches, mentors, supervisors, or leaders. The authors explore the stance of meta-ethics, reflecting on the practice of ethics from multiple perspectives, rather than taking a normative stance of seeking to influence how readers act through talking of good and bad, right or wrong. Coaches and other practitioners can only achieve mastery in ethics through the way they operate in relation to others. The supervisee was being asked to coach someone where the organization’s aim was to support the individual to break into the developing world market. The authors consider tools and techniques, before providing a case study and some references for further reflection.
