ABSTRACT

This chapter calls for resistance against neoliberal and neoconservative authoritarianism, indeed, against capitalism, and for activism within micro-, meso- and macro level political, social, and educational arenas or sites of struggle. The focus in this chapter is on activity within formal education institutions, calling for teachers and education workers (and others) to be ‘Critical Educators’, Resistors, Marxist activists, within and outside official education. The article asks questions such as ‘What is specifically Marxist’ about proposals re: Pedagogy, Curriculum, the Organisation of Students, and the Control of Education and seeks to locate such proposals within Marxist theory and practice.
