ABSTRACT

The admission to primary school of children compelled to attend school is effected upon registration of the pupil. Admission of children may afterwards be registered by their parents for attendance at a pre-school educational institution. The instruction and education given by the comprehensive school should provide students with the knowledge and skills they need in order to be able to develop personally to protect the living environment and nature, and to promote national culture and values as well as international co-operation and peace. All the foregoing has been permanently and systematically incorporated in the texts of the new curricula. The Referral Boards attached to schools draw up reports on whether a child is eligible for admission to a certain type of special school. Young people shall be trained to become healthy, capable, conscientious and responsible members of society and citizens of the democratic and federal Republic of Austria.
