ABSTRACT
Chapter 10 introduces biographical sketches, also called bio sketches, as a type of background material that chronicles the career of a specific individual within an organization. The chapter provides an overview of bio sketches, including their purpose, style, form and tone; reviews their structure; and outlines the types of information featured in bio sketches, including a person’s current position within the organization, past positions held by the individual, membership/leadership in professional organizations, education/certifications/awards and honors, and personal information, such as family life and hobbies. The bio sketch template provides readers with a user-friendly guide for writing bio sketches. The chapter concludes with two exercises related to bio sketches: an exercise crafting a bio sketch and an editing exercise related to Associated Press Style.
