ABSTRACT
This chapter argues that reflection on practice is a valuable tool for learning and interrogation of pedagogical practice. It involves the reader in a discussion about the organisational culture of leadership and why it is important for leaders to lead at a pace that is suitable to keep people engaged in the local context as well as reflecting critically on their own leadership approaches. In this context, the author interrogates the reasons why leaders should be unafraid to examine their own values and beliefs and the impact these have on those they lead. The chapter attempts to engage the reader in a provocation that asks them to question what they do and importantly how and why they engage with young children. It is therefore a chapter intended to promote thinking and discussion and move that thinking beyond established boundaries and domains.
