ABSTRACT

The quality improvement process requires a team to develop a vision statement and to identify one or two major targets that align with the vision statement. Some 70 systems have been established that have a bearing on the quality of the delivered curriculum. This was an extremely useful exercise as staff became very aware of what their individual and collective responsibility was in making these systems work effectively. Building shared values leads to a greater awareness and understanding of what makes for quality. All teams have a quality improvement process that can be applied to any aspect of their work. Teams are working within an agreed broad framework provided by the mission and vision statements. As a school we realized the tremendous potential that existed in BS 5750 and Total Quality Management. One strategy have introduced and implemented was the gaining of BS 5750 certification.
