ABSTRACT

Academia is a learning environment, as well as a constant learning process. Sometimes those lessons are really insightful. Other times they are just really sad. Given that, institutionally, plagiarism in academia was promoted as unacceptable, it seemed somewhat confusing that such acts were effectively being accommodated rather than readily admonished in practice. Familiar with plagiarism as a concept, and the risk of plagiarism in the classroom, A had never really considered the risk of academics taking each other's work and words. Whilst being a relatively young university financed jointly by the European Union and the Greek State, its website referred to its "internationally renowned executive education and business courses". The Publisher advised that he could update the journal article as appropriate and publicise any changes. In particular, the Publisher made reference to the Committee on Publication Ethics, to which his organisation was a signatory.
