ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines ten-point Agenda for Action that is crucial for business-led coalitions around the world to succeed in the next stage of helping individual companies embed sustainability into their core business operations and to scale up the leadership role of the private sector. Corporate responsibility coalitions are a global conduit for relevant best practices between different countries and help their member companies to work together in overcoming common obstacles to embedding sustainability. Coalitions are support member companies to overcome the performance gap that persists between strategic commitments to sustainability made at the corporate level and embedding these commitments into business unit operations and global supply chains. Coalitions are convene and facilitate the engagement of companies in multi-stakeholder platforms that include government and civil society to come together to tackle complex sustainability challenges either within a particular city, country or region or on an international basis; or they convene the collective business participation in existing multi-stakeholder initiatives.
