ABSTRACT

The Human Resources (HR) function is the key partner in embedding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability initiatives in any organisation, as this can be achieved only when a company educates, engages and empowers its entire workforce. This chapter proposes that the HR function has a responsibility to be proactive in leading the way in establishing a company-wide CSR-enabled culture. It provides the case study about the bussiness of a woman named as Sharon Black. She had seen that every public company she had come across had a code of ethics, or code of business conduct or something with a similar name. She knew that Andromex had such a code, but it had never been formally communicated. Sharon opened with what she felt was something non-threatening. She said that Andromex was an ethical business. She was not criticising anyone, just making a proposal to safeguard the future of Andromex as an ethical business.
