ABSTRACT
Eco-industrial development projects in developing countries are seeking to leapfrog the earlier errors of developed countries through robust application of industrial ecology. A number of initiatives in Asia surpass any comparable efforts in North America or Europe. Since 1997 the economic crisis in South-East Asia has led many industrial estate developers and managers to look for new strategies for increasing efficiency and competitiveness.
