ABSTRACT
The 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) was an event of great significance with global ramifications. Although opinions vary regarding the value of its accomplishments, the summit was the most recent juncture in a global process to manage environment and development issues that can be traced back to the late 1960s-a period marked by emerging environmental problems and growing public awareness.
