ABSTRACT
The Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, headquartered in Japan, is the second largest cement producer in the world (5,120 million tons a year). Whereas cement and concrete facilitated the construction of the 20th century’s infrastructure, today the industry’s, or at least Taiheiyo’s, mission is the realisation of symbiosis with nature. Taiheiyo is thus also engaged in advancing the concept of ‘zero emissions’.
