ABSTRACT
‘Industrial symbiosis’ is similar to zero emissions and also to industrial ecology, and is, perhaps, more successful as a metaphor than the latter, simply because ‘industrial’ and ‘ecology’ would appear to be oxymoronic, whereas it is easy to imagine a symbiosis among diverse industries.
