An Overview of Tools and Strategies for Environmental Management

The tools of environmental management have evolved very rapidly over 25 years; and today policy-makers have at their disposal an extensive arsenal of strategic and technical instruments. Further, the pace of change is accelerating, for there is under way in OECD countries what amounts to a large experiment to develop a ‘next generation’ of management tools to cope with a new generation of environmental challenges.
