ABSTRACT

Arthur H. Rosenfeld, Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the United States Department of Energy during the Clinton Administration, who earned his PhD in 1954 under Enrico Fermi at the University of Chicago, believes that both incentives and regulation are secondary to having the right technology. A particle physicist and author of bestselling books, Rosenfeld switched to end-use of energy in 1974. From 1975 until 1994, he was the Director of the Center for Building Science at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, where he spearheaded energy-efficient developments one after the other. With the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), he and Assistant Energy Secretary Dr Joseph Romm created the Center for Energy and Climate Solutions, designed to help environmentally committed businesses develop and adopt innovative climate and energy solutions while gaining international recognition for their efforts.
