ABSTRACT

Integrated product policy (IPP) is a notion with a complex meaning. The central idea of IPP is integration. The dimensions of this integration can be manifold: integration throughout the product life-cycle, integration of stakeholders, integration of the economic, ecologic and social dimensions of sustainability, integration of different old and new instruments, integration in other policy fields. A representative telephone enquiry was chosen as the quantitative investigation method. The questionnaire used for this purpose was developed by qualitative methods: namely, a group discussion with IPP experts and interviews carried out by means of the so-called Repertory–Grid Method. In addition to the IPP potential, another important precondition for the implementation of IPP into commercial practice is the availability of suitable instruments. Discussions about IPP mainly take place within administrative and scientific networks, supported to some extent by environmental specialists of large companies.
