ABSTRACT

This chapter presents South America profile that includes sustainable enterprise in context; priority issues, trends, government policies and case studies. The strategic development of a regional infrastructure of sustainable transport in South America could not only increase competitiveness and improve the speed and transportation of trade, with a direct impact on costs, but greater connectivity opens new opportunities for productive and social development. In this sense, the promotion of an integrated South American infrastructure that has a sustainable and strategic vision could play a key role in promoting and sustaining economic, as it could contribute to the regional balance, territorial cohesion and development in harmony with the environment. Environmentally sustainable development remains a key challenge for the vast majority of the countries of South America, following the efforts that are being made around the globe. From a differentiated business model, and consistent with its sustainable vision of the world, Natura acts to generate increased value for all its stakeholders.
