ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates how Bridges team has built a deep understanding of how different business models can address the same challenges in different ways, leading to the development of its multi-fund approach. It explores the impact methodology that all investment teams apply when reviewing investment opportunities, albeit analysed through the prism of their respective fund. Bridges' investment teams integrate impact analysis at every stage of the investment cycle. There are four key elements to this approach: a specialist focus ("thematic approach"), a consistent process ("select, engage and track"), clear criteria (the "impact radar"), and a performance measurement and management tool (the "impact scorecard"). In raising different funds to suit different entrepreneurial solutions, Bridges has been able to attract appropriate capital from diverse sources. The diversification of Bridges' investor base is indicative of the growing market interest in impact investing.
