ABSTRACT

Firms need to move towards sustainability and supply chains offer an opportunity to achieve it. However, in this context, few academics have explored sustainability from a triple bottom line (TBL) approach, which includes the integration of the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainability (Carter and Rogers, 2008; Seuring and Müller, 2008). Building on stakeholder orientation and TBL approach, we develop a framework which focuses on the introduction of sustainability into supply chains. To test our framework, we study a social enterprise that focuses on community well-being through value creation and sustainability. Our contribution is to extend supply chain literature by studying supply chains within a social enterprise in order to understand how this kind of company integrates sustainability in its supply chain from a TBL approach.
