ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the emerging importance being placed on analysing global supply chains from a network perspective. This perspective is especially important for sustainability, as non-economic outcomes introduce stakeholders outside of the typical supply chain that have an important impact on triple bottom line (TBL) outcomes. This chapter will illustrate these impacts by using common social network variables to explain their impact on TBL outcomes in global supply chains. The chapter concludes with two illustrative examples to demonstrate how these variables interact in the networks of large multi-national organizations.
