ABSTRACT

Using empirical data, this chapter presents the results of an exploratory analysis of two focal companies and their suppliers. The focal major first-tier and second-tier suppliers are mapped. Data is gathered regarding the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) reporting of all members of the network and the relationship between focal firm GRI reporting and GRI reporting of key network members is explored. No relationship is found between the relative importance of the members in the network and their GRI reporting. Based on the mapping, the network positions or roles and importance (based on dollars of spending) of various network members are identified and discussed, along with the potential power of key network members.
