ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors present the key role played by the Conference des Grandes Ecoles (CGE) association in going beyond collecting female/male statistics from member schools for creating tools to map collective progress made, and to sensitizing staff and students about sources of gender inequalities. They explore a gender lens to describe the French context of management education which can be read through political, legal and economic developments on the national and European levels. The authors outline solutions adopted by the CGE to address gender inequalities in member schools. The CGE's mandate is to seek excellence in its relations with the business world and civil society. The CGE started carrying out studies in 2007 on male/female representation in member schools. Discrimination affects female graduates in the labour market as well as in their own capacity to obtain a job.
