ABSTRACT

The Research Libraries Group, Inc. (RLG), is a not-for-profit membership corporation of universities, archives, historical societies, museums, and other institutions devoted to improving access to information that supports research and learning. Founded in 1974 by three universities—Columbia, Harvard, and Yale—and the New York Public Library, RLG became a pioneer in developing cooperative solutions to problems in the acquisition, intellectual control, preservation, and delivery of research information. 1
