ABSTRACT

The disclosure by employees of abuses committed by the company, called whistleblowing, has been studied comprehensively in the world literature, both in respect to its theoretical complexity and its far-reaching practical consequences. The ethical and efficient aspects of the phenomenon have been examined, and it has also been studied from the sociological and psychological points of view. In the developed countries some attempts of whistleblowing strategy are undertaken both by the government and by the companies. However, in Poland the discussion and research on the theoretical and practical aspects of whistleblowing is on its beginning. Presentation of the cases is aimed at understanding the essence of the phenomenon of whistleblowing and abstracting its main characteristics from the business practice. Polish language does not have a term for a person disclosing abuses and acting unselfishly to remove some evil done to other individuals or society.
