ABSTRACT
In the immediately preceding section we found an emphasis on the belief that while “the heavens are the heavens of the Lord,” “the earth He has given to man.” Chapter 1 of Genesis relates that as soon as man was created, God gave him the mandate to “subdue the earth” and to have “dominion” over “every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
