ABSTRACT

The objective of behavioral electronics is the application of electronics to the understanding, maintenance, and modification of human behavior. The use of electronics as an aid to observation is only the first level of potential application. The next level would be the use of electronic instruments in therapy as interventional or prosthetic devices. One of the central functions of the Behavior Transmitter-Reinforcer (BT-R), which operates as both a sending and a receiving unit, is the immediate and accurate recording of behavioral events as they occur in the wearer's natural environment. The application of behavioral electronics to the solution of human problems presents us with social dangers as well as possibilities. A person wearing electronic equipment is no longer entangled in a complicated series of wires. Some FM transmitters broadcasting within a range of several feet are small enough to be worn inside the body or even swallowed.
