ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the conceptual and methodological characteristics of evaulation procedures based on various typological, trait, and psychodynamic systems of behavior. In obtaining data to be used in predicting the manner in which a client will adapt to the behavioral requirements of given environments, observation should be made under those conditions, or under highly similar conditions, in which the behavior is expected to occur or is to be required in the future. The specific information gathered during the assessment process and the levels and nature of recommendation which assessment personnel render are functions of numerous factors. The psychologist, the educator, psychiatrist, social worker, work evaluator, and the like who are involved in various stages of the assessment process may be staff members of various private and public organizations. The assessment data needed for a specific treatment decision is most frequently quite different from that needed for most general program decisions.
