ABSTRACT

The author likes to express his warmest appreciation first to the Bruno Kreisky Archives Foundation for their efforts last October 12, in gathering in Vienna historians and delegates from Europe and the America who had conducted research on the Nazi Era. Second, he likes to express his appreciation to Dr. Oliver Rathkolb for the outstanding organization and for his appropriate and adequate focus on such an interesting topic. He was a former President of the Jewish Community of Madrid and the President of the Spanish Sephardi Federation. The Prime Minister, Mr. Jose Marfa Aznar, leader of the Partido Popular, appointed Mr. Enrique Mugica Herzog, a very important leader of the Socialist Party, as the President of the Commission and established the procedure in the appointment of the Commissions nine members. Mr. Mugica entered politics at an extremely young age as a democratic opponent to General Franco’s regime and spent three years of his life in jail.
