ABSTRACT

During Second World War, an extensive transfer of financial resources occurred in the European territories occupied by Nazi Germany. The “Third Reich” used the occupied territories as a source of currency and jewelry and valuables confiscated from the peaceful population, the Jewish population in particular. The participants of the international conference in Washington in 1998 claimed that the Ukrainian government solved the problems of restitution of Jewish property in the local communities slowly. Until the end of July 1941 German fascists occupied the entire territory of the Vinnytsia region and artificially dismembered it. Southern and southwestern areas along the Mohyliv-Podilsky - Zhmerinka - Bershad line were given to Romania because it was the nearest ally of fascist Germany. Information on forced labor in occupied Ukraine as well as the amount of wages can be found in the orders and decrees of the German administration and local Ukrainian authorities.
