ABSTRACT

Timo Airaksinen (Ph.D., Turku University, Finland), is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Helsinki since 1983. His current research and teaching are focused on professional ethics, philosophy of technology, and history of philosophy (Thomas Hobbes, George Berkeley). He has also been interested in the philosophy of literature (The Marquis de Sade, H. P. Lovecraft). He is a life member of Clare Hall College, Cambridge UK and a Vice-Chairman of the Finnish Philosophical Society. He is Managing Editor of Hobbes Studies. In 2003-2004 he is visiting the University of Sunshine Coast, Maroochydore, QLD, Australia.
