ABSTRACT

The concept of action like that of work, has a particularly wide interpretative field: any transforming process can be described as an action and more importantly, all living beings are said to inter-react with their environments, depending on their awareness and levels of vigilance. “(Human) action is always social in the sense that because of the subjective signification that the individual or individuals who are doing the acting place on it, it takes account of the behaviour of others and is affected by it while it lasts” Weber. The social actor takes account of the presence and behaviour of others. The action has a value as a sign or symbol for the subject. The sociology of action, which attempts to seize emerging new identities in the social field lays emphasis on tackling crisis situations and attempts to recognize values as they are being formed.
