ABSTRACT

Eli Ginzberg’s contributions to economics as well as to the formulation of economic policy proposals in various applied areas are many. Given his wide range of interests, his taste for “scribbling,” and his long and continuing span of professional activity, it would most assuredly be impossible to select a single essay or volume that all readers would agree best represents the quintessential Ginzberg. There simply are too many worthy books and essays that would compete for that distinction. Yet, though there may be no single quintessential Ginzberg publication, it seems to me there is a quintessential Ginzberg. It is found in virtually everything he has written. 1
