ABSTRACT

“One man in his time plays many parts.” So wrote William Shakespeare in As You Like It, describing the changes in appearance, responsibilities, and capabilities that occur over the lifecycle. Eli Ginzberg has played many parts, but has managed the extraordinary feat of playing them contemporaneously for well over half a century. He has been a teacher, researcher, adviser to presidents, mentor to young scholars, prolific author, dynamic public speaker, and wise counselor to scores of friends, colleagues, and heads of non-profit institutions. Moreover, Ginzberg’s vigor, enthusiasm, and mental acuity continue unabated as he enters his tenth decade.
