ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the reader some prefatory remarks about the David Lee Cawthon, who wrote a well-received series of articles examining how great thinkers dealt with the challenges of leadership. David kept the religious element of human existence in the forefront of his life and of his thinking. He also had extensive instruction experience overseas. His teaching focused on organizational behavior and leadership. Students would comment that his class had transformed their lives and how his teaching and exhortations had placed them on a productive path for the future. He was among the finest teachers on a campus well known for its teaching. In his classroom as in his life, he exuded a devotion to religious-based learning. The combination of religious focus and concern for questions of leadership led him to assess how great thinkers in the past had dealt with similar issues.
