ABSTRACT
You come right out of a position of advocacy [as a lawyer] into one where you have to be totally impersonal. It’s tough to train yourself not to want to take part in a proceeding … and the longer you stay on the bench, the less of a lawyer you become, the more you appreciate the constitutional provisions, the rights of people.
