ABSTRACT

An assumption of research on employee motivation is that organizations differ in the psycho-social environment they offer employees (cf. Louis,1990; Trice & Beyer, 1993) or the related “implicit employment contract” (Rousseau & McLeanParks, 1993). The t between individual employees and such organizational differences has been shown to inuence important outcomes (cf. O’Reilly, Chatman, & Caldwell, 1991).
