ABSTRACT
This chapter falls into two parts. The first is a description and analysis of the field of learning disabilities in Australia. Because the Australian approach to learning problems does not use the exclusionary factors in the standard definition of learning disabilities, the second part is a commentary on learning and the circumstances in which students may find learning unexpectedly difficult.
