ABSTRACT
The Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Fin land are often perceived as a homogeneous group of nations, unified not only by their geographical neighborhood in the northern periphery of Europe but also by similar languages, common historical and cultural traditions, similar political patterns, high priorities for social welfare systems, and high egalitarian ambitions.
