ABSTRACT
Bill Cruickshank was a complex man with many talents. One of the dominant themes in his lectures, teaching, and writing was a quest for excellence. He expected the best possible performance from students, teachers, researchers, and the field in general. At the same time, he was a very caring, generous person. In order to capture the many sides of Bill, we consider his roles in life from several perspectives.
