ABSTRACT

By now, the practical and theoretical foundation has been laid for the realistic approach in teacher education. The previous chapter provided an overall synthesis of many of the elements put forward in chapters 1 through 9. In the present chapter, the focus shifts to a very concrete issue: What instruments or techniques can the teacher educator use to strengthen the relationship between student teachers’ experiences in practice and their reflections on this practice? In chapter 9, four techniques have already been discussed (the wall, columns, repgrid, and arrows). In the present chapter, a broader range of instruments and techniques will be described.
