ABSTRACT

Be Before planning the details of a study, researchers usually dig into the literature to find out what has already been written about the topic they are interested in investigating. Both the opinions of experts in the field and other research studies are of interest. Such reading is referred to as a review of the literature. A literature review is helpful in two ways. First, it helps researchers gain some knowledge of the ideas of others interested in a particular research question. Second, it lets researchers see the results of other (similar or related) studies of the question. A detailed literature review is usually required of master’s and doctoral students when they complete a thesis.
